For all people covered by the Nursing Pay Equity Claim
Employees covered by the nursing pay equity claim voted overwhelmingly in favour of the proposed nursing pay equity settlement on 31 July 2023.
Details of the Settlement
The settlement includes:
Lump Sum in Recognition of Work from 1 January 2020 to 6 March 2022
In addition to the lump sum payments totaling $10,000 (gross, pro-rated) already received, a further lump sum payment of $15,000 (gross, pro-rated) will be paid as part of the settlement agreement.
Amended Pay rates
Senior nurse and Nurse Practitioner pay rates will increase by 6.5 percent.
Pay rates for all other roles covered by the pay equity claim will increase by 4.5 percent.
The table below shows the new pay rates for the top step in the different nursing pay scales.

The current Grade 1, Step 1 of the Senior Nurse Grade will be removed and any senior nurse on Grade 1, Step 1 will translate onto Grade 1, Step 2 ($105,704) of the amended rates.
The amended pay rates will be back paid to 7 March 2022.
The agreed settlement is a formal Pay Equity Claim Settlement under the Equal Pay Act.
It is a full and final settlement of litigation in the Employment Court and Employment Relations Authority.
