HealthCERT has been reviewing the processes in place for the notification for one hospital-level resident in a rest home service area (NOHRRA).

We have determined that as the regulator, HealthCERT will no longer manage the oversight of this process, however it is important that processes and systems remain in place to ensure that the safety and care of these residents is maintained.

From 2 September 2024, please send your NOHRRA notifications to Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora, Commissioning team, via the following email address relevant to your region (see below).

You no longer need to send these to HealthCERT.

To make a NOHRRA notification

1. Please notify your Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora Commissioning lead contact if at any point you have, or are planning to have, a hospital-level resident in a rest home service area.

2. Complete the NOHRRA notification form:

Notification form - notification for one hospital-level resident in a rest home service area (DOCX 147KB)

3. Email the completed form to the appropriate regional team:

Important considerations:

  • If your facility is certified for hospital-level care, please consider if you need to increase your hospital level beds on a more permanent basis (reconfiguration request)
  • If your facility is not certified for hospital-level care, be aware that if you have more than one hospital-level resident, you MUST be certified for hospital-level care.

Please get in touch with HealthCERT via certification@health.govt.nz if you need guidance with this process.
