About the fund
Pacific families are disproportionately represented in poor health outcomes. Their health as a community needs to improve.
The Pacific Community Health Fund has been set up to help Pacific peoples develop community-led initiatives to achieve their own health and wellbeing goals and aspirations.
The Pacific Community Health Fund is designed to support initiatives that are based on at least one of the priority areas from within Goal 3 of the Pacific Aotearoa Lalanga Fou report ‘Resilient and Healthy Pacific peoples.’
The priorities are:
- Improving preventative and integrated primary and behavioural health and social services.
- Ensuring Pacific values inform the design of health services.
- Providing better support for Pacific peoples with disability and their families.
- Delivering improved mental health and wellbeing services.
- Ensuring parents are supported to provide the best start in life for their children.
- Responding or recovering from COVID-19.
The Pacific Community Health Fund aims to support community-led initiatives that have strong emphasis on:
- health issues within sub-populations (e.g. women’s health, elderly wellbeing, disability, youth or LGBTQI)
- collaboration with other Pacific community organisations and/or Pacific health providers
- innovation and new ways of working.
