FOU - The Future is Open to Us

We partner with schools from across the Auckland region to support students to realise their potential in a health career.

We do this through our flagship FOU Secondary initiative – Health Science Academies (HSA). HSA is a pacific focused programme in seconday schools; working with students from Year 10 to Year 13.

We run an extensive list of activities including:

• Career Exposure workshops and videos
• Leadership Bose (Y11 – Y12)
• Year 13 Fit-for-Purpose Camp.

FOU Tertiary provides holistic support for students, so that they can enter meaningful work as health professionals.

This is separated in to three categories - Tertiary Essentials | Tertiary Support | Workforce Essentials.

Some of the programmes we offer in this programme include:

• Workforce Ready Workshops - mock job interviews
• Hospital tour - career exposure
• CV and LinkedIn profile support.

With more than 80 health careers to choose from at Middlemore Hospital alone, it can get overwhelming to research and figure out what you want to study or where you want to work.

Career ExFOUsure is original media content created by FOU to provide a clear pathway for your decision-making, so that you know exactly what to expect from different career choices.

Each video highlights a health career. This involves what the career is, earnings and study requirements.

FOU invites you to our NEW scholarships page to seek out awards, prizes and scholarships relevant to your tertiary and secondary study needs.  The page outlines scholarships relevant to health professional studies or STEM subjects in each of the tertiary providers who offer health professional programmes i.e. nursing, medical school, physiotherapy, clinical engineering, clinical imaging etc. 

We also provide you with a FOU generic scholarships list, these are providers not linked to a tertiary institution but provide scholarships in health, science or are Pacific specific. For example, Health NZ scholarships or TOLOA STEM scholarships from the Ministry of Pacific peoples.
