This guide provides evidence-based recommendations for the screening and diagnosis of both probable undiagnosed type 2 diabetes and gestational diabetes in pregnancy to improve neonatal and maternal outcomes.
Recommendations on the treatment and management of gestational diabetes are also outlined.
The guide summarises the recommendations in the clinical practice guideline Screening, Diagnosis and Management of Gestational Diabetes in New Zealand.
The clinical guideline was developed by Auckland Uniservices using an expert working group after an extensive literature review, and was funded by the Ministry of Health as part of the Maternity Quality Initiative.
