Aged residential care (ARC) is required when an older person needs to be cared for in a residential setting.
A person’s care is decided by an assessment of their needs, and there are four levels of ARC:
Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora contracts with aged residential care providers for delivery of services to older people. The two key agreements are the Age-Related Residential Care Agreement (ARRC) and the Aged Residential Hospital Specialised Services (ARHSS) Agreement. They're reviewed annually in collaboration with the aged residential care sector.
