Introduction
In 2021 the Long Term Conditions team at Ministry of Health (now in Te Whatu Ora) commissioned Oyster Workshop Ltd to produce a suite of consumer lived experience stories about long-term conditions, with a primary focus on diabetes.
The project, called Ngā Kōrero Hauora, captures the lived experience of ten people, whose voices and stories provide us with important insights on what it is like living with long-term conditions and how we can improve the health system.
The purpose of Ngā Kōrero Hauora is to enable deeper understanding of the impacts of these health conditions on people and their whānau, identify opportunities and barriers in the health system, and influence change to support the hauora of present and future generations.
The project includes ten illustrated visual journeys, three video stories, and a visual graphic summarising key themes raised by the consumers throughout this project.
We would like to thank Oyster Workshop for bringing together this important mahi and honouring the stories of the consumers. And our special thanks to all of the consumer participants who shared their personal health journeys.
