The purpose of the Maternity National Clinical Network is to provide national leadership and oversee the strategic direction, strategic priorities, and programme of work for maternity services across Aotearoa.
This work involves health professionals, key stakeholders and consumers and whānau influencing how we prioritise, drive system change, eliminate inequities and remove unwarranted variation through the development of national standards and models of care.
National Chief Midwife, Laura Aileone, and Hauora Māori Interim Chief Midwifery Officer, Nicole Pihema, are also supporting the momentum of this work.

Beverley Te Huia
Beverley Te Huia – Midwife and researcher from the Hawkes Bay. Bev also has a Master’s degree in public health and is currently working on her PHD. She has been at the forefront of a transformational approach to Māori health in Kahungunu and has played major roles in building cultural innovation, contributing to Māori Maternal and infant health approaches, and workforce development.

Obstetrician / Gynaecologist working for Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Waitaha. Jane is the clinical lead for obstetrics at Waitaha and is also the Transalpine clinician, providing clinical services to Te Tai Poutini West Coast.
