Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand has today released its very first annual report. The report covers the period 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2023 when the mahi really began to bring together 28 health organisations, as well as some functions of Manatū Hauora | Ministry of Health, into a single new health entity.
This Annual Report provides a comprehensive picture of the first 12 months for Te Whatu Ora.
The first year focused on ensuring continuity of care during significant change, embedding structures fit for one organisation, better understanding the challenges and opportunities we have inherited, and making early moves to generate the savings we need to reinvest in frontline care. We are making good progress but there is much to be done.
The health workforce has played a vital part in supporting our health system to meet the needs of New Zealanders. This includes, but is not limited to kaimahi, providers, unions, stakeholders, volunteers and system partners - Te Aka Whai Ora and Manatū Hauora.
