Te Aka Whai Ora has appointed Wikitōria Werohia to the role of Maiaka Aroturuki, Deputy Chief Executive Monitoring, which includes evaluating the performance of hauora Māori services and reporting on the results.
Wikitōria (Tuhourangi Ngāti Wahiao, Ngāti Whakaue, Ngai Te Rangi me Ngāti Ranginui) brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked for Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) for almost five years as Head of Risk and Assurance, and serving on the board of several Māori-owned entities.
Chief Executive of Te Aka Whai Ora, Riana Manuel, is delighted to have Wikitōria in what is a critical function for the organisation, and acknowledges the work of Nigel Chee, who held the interim position from the beginning.
“Wikitōria will play a key role in supporting our commitment to monitoring transformational change and developing the kinds of insights and innovation we need to support decision making,” says Riana.
“Her knowledge and expertise will also help ensure we’re able to provide accessible information on our performance to not only whānau Māori, but also the wider health sector and public.”
Wikitōria says she is looking forward to joining Te Aka Whai Ora and using her experience to meet the expectations for monitoring and performance goals.
“Improving health outcomes for Māori is a kaupapa I’m passionate about and it’s a privilege to contribute to this important mahi.”
Wikitōria starts her new role on Monday 31 July 2023.
