Fast-tracked resource consent for the New Dunedin Hospital Inpatient Building has been granted by the Environmental Protection Authority. Five land-use consents were applied for including for activities related to construction, and for hospital activities to be carried out after completion.

The consents are subject to a number of conditions, including building floors at a level to mitigate flood risk. Other consent conditions include a traffic management plan and a travel plan for construction staff. After construction, a range of conditions include a transport safety audit, an adverse weather response plan, and a workplace travel plan outlining how staff will be encouraged to reduce solo car travel. Cycling facilities are among the implementation conditions, and a minimum of 130 staff cycle spaces are required.

Fast-track consent for the Outpatient Building was granted in August last year.
