Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora urges those with an appointment scheduled at Wellington Regional Hospital on Tuesday morning or early afternoon, to please allow extra time to get to appointments.
With the national Hīkoi arriving in Wellington on Tuesday, 19 November, Health NZ anticipates there may be significant congestion on the region’s roads between the hours of approx. 6.00am – 1.00pm.
The expected route is from Takapuwahia Marae in Elsdon towards Porirua and along Kenepuru Drive to Tawa then up Middleton Road to Johnsonville and then down Ngaraunga George and along the old Hutt Road to Waitangi Park in central Wellington, finishing at Parliament grounds. Please be aware travel will take longer than usual and plan accordingly. Staff will try to accommodate everyone as best as possible on the day.
