In response to changing workforce needs, the third round of the Return to Nursing Workforce Support Fund closed at midnight on 31 July 2024.  No further applications are being accepted at this time.

We are currently undertaking a full review of the Return to Nursing Workforce Support Fund, which will be completed by December 2024.

Health New Zealand will not be reimbursing any costs related to the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OCSE).

Three rounds of the Return to Nursing Workforce Support Fund were run from February 2022 to July 2024. Over that time around 400 nurses were supported with funding of up to $5,000 each. This support has enabled nurses without an APC to return to practice in New Zealand and has supported nurses now working in aged residential care, community health providers, Health New Zealand and NGOs.
